The Remodeling Continues

The past couple days we've been working on getting out living room painted. Thursday evening we finally decide on a color. Well we actually mixed three different colors together and came up with a really neat looking brown. And I'm loving it!

One wall done!

As you can see from this pic and the one below its still a work in progress.

(hehe..caught a pic of Ryan playing the xbox...i think he's playin Halo2)

The trim in the house is all going to be white once we get all the rooms done. So far we have the office and the bedroom completely finished (all except closet doors). The kitchen is getting there, still needs another coat of paint on the walls and cabinets, also need to get the floor done. And we don't even want to think about doing the bathroom right now, though it too needs to get done.
Currently keeping our eyes open for carpet to put down in the living room. Decide to not do hardwood floors considering the time and effort it took into doing the office floor. Ugh, don't care to do that again. Basically we had to rip up the old asbestos tile and the tar paper some genius put down underneath it, which made for an insanely hard time getting the remaining tar off the wood floor, as well as the paint that was there too. Anyway not a process either one of us care to repeat. Thus why the bedroom got carpeted and why the living room is gonna get the same.

I'll get some more pictures of the living room up as soon as we finish getting it all painted. I would say about a third of the way done. Still have 3 more walls to go as well as the trim and windows on those walls.

Hauling Off The Metal

Say goodbye to the remains of the old carpet cleaning trailer. We finally got around to hauling off the metal to the recycling center.

Thanks to the help of Elder's Rasmussen and Struthers (missionaries serving in our ward) we got this project out of the way on Thursday. Thanks guys! Couldn't have done it without ya. We we're even pleasantly surprised when we got to the recycling plant that the price of metal had gone up. We got $35 bucks for this load....and it didn't even include the engine part of the carpet machine. Which didn't fit this time around. We're gonna break it down and take it on the next load sometime next week.
It was nice to get all that scrap metal out of the yard....including the old axle from the Blazer and two broken lawn mowers that someone gave us a couple months ago. Yippee for getting rid of junk!

Weed Trimmer Attacks!

As they do, another accident has happened with Ryan. Don't freak out, nothing too serious. Just another one of Ryan's extreme fixing projects :) Gotta love the way he fixes things, but hey they usually work when he's done with them.
This lovely finger incident happened Tuesday afternoon while he was working on our weed trimmer.

He was trying to take it apart to fix the pull string and the fuel line. One of the screws had stripped, so he ended up taking the grinder to it to cut the screw out of the way to get the casing off the weed trimmer. Well, it slipped and decided to stop bye and say hi to Ryan's left pointer finger.
We are happy to report that it it healing properly and still looks disgusting :)

Our Nauvoo Weekend - by: Allison Rosenlund

As some of you may already know, Ryan and I went to Nauvoo, IL this past weekend. We left Friday afternoon and walked around Nauvoo for a little while that evening before going back to our motel in Keokuk, IA for a swim before the pool closed. First swim of the season!
Saturday morning we went back to Nauvoo to go to the temple. We were joined there by my parents, who came to be with me while I received my endowments. It was a wonderful experience to be in the temple again with both my parents. I don't think I have done that since I did baptisms as a youth. Getting my endowments was a wonderful spiritual experience. I was truly grateful for having both my parents and my husband there to greet me in the Celestial room. I felt so full of peace, love and joy. I burst into tears each time someone different hugged me. I will never forget the way I felt in the temple that day. It will be a strength to me when I am struggling through life's ups and downs. Thank You everyone for all your love and support that brought me to this wonderful experience in my life. My knowledge of the gospel is expanding and everything is starting to make more sense...getting a glimpse of the bigger picture and I'm loving it. I am really looking forward to being sealed to my husband Ryan in the Manti Temple later this summer.

After several tries of trying to get pics of ourselves on our own a lady offered to take some for us. And I must say these look a lot better than our originals.

Ryan at the grave stone of Hyrum, Joseph and Emma. (Something we didn't realize till after the fact, while we were walking through the Smith Family Cemetery: Joseph and Hyrum were martyred on June 27....I received my endowments in Nauvoo on June 27. Interesting. At least we thought so.)

Looking out to the river from the Smith Family Cemetery

A few last pictures of Nauvoo as we are taking one last look at the temple site before heading home to Missouri.

Tragedy Occurs Every Once in A While

Saturday night (march 14) we returned home from visiting a friends house around 11pm to find one of Ryan's trailers on fire. The one with the truck mount in it/ carpet cleaning equipment. You might be able to imagine our shock, horror and reaction. We practically forgot to put the car in park before hopping out to call 911 and grab the hose. While I was on the phone giving information to 911, Ryan was trying to put out the fire that was beginning to consume the whole trailer. By the time the fire department got to us (5 minutes later) it was blazing and the fire had already started burning the gas and chemicals that were stored in the trailer, along with all his hoses, the RX-20, and other small equipment. It was a total loss, not much if anything can be salvaged. When the gas started to burn, the fire quickly grew large and hot. It consumed and everything in it path and burnt it to a crisp, if not melted it as well. We don't know how the fire started we can only speculate. Its just another major blow to us and to our financial situation. Because the busy season was about to start for Ryan's business, he was devastated. Pretty much all we can do with whats left is sell it for scrap metal. In a matter of 30 mins all Ryan's hopes and dreams and hard work was lost in that fire.

As you can see the sides of the trailer are melted away for the most part.

The side door, the RX-20, the big reel that held the suction hose, a mop bucket, debris melted to the ground. Below is the gas tank, the engine, and some of the parts that make up the engine.

There is a small peak at the silver lining. We were very lucky that the fire did not reach the house, despite the fact of the trailer only being a few feet away from it. The house is intact and so are we. We are now striving to move on and find the blessing in our life. We thank the Lord for protect us and the house that night. Although we may not understand why it happend, we do understand that we were bless and that the Lord is watching over us during our trials.

Snow

We haven't had a whole lot this past winter to brag about. But when we did get some it came down pretty good. If i remember right the last snowfall we had ending up being about 7inches.
